This year, our nomination season coincides with larger congregational discussions about a proposed new structure for church leadership. We are moving forward with the nominating process despite some uncertainty about what our final formal structure might look like. Even though we don't know all of the details about the shape these roles might take, we do know that we need people to take on work related to the life of the church community -- work like co-chairing church council, stewarding the building, serving as greeters, setting up potlucks, providing programming for kids, managing the church budget, planning worship services, and furthering our social justice and anti-racism initiatives. We are soliciting nominees or volunteers for this work with the understanding that the specific roles may end up looking somewhat different than they have in previous years.

Open Position Descriptions
Council Co-Chair: The Congregational Co-Chairs lead both Church Council and congregational meetings; solicit and set the agenda for these meetings; serve as an administrative liaison connecting Church Council, Co-Pastors and the congregation; and work closely with the Co-Pastors.
Treasurer: The treasurer projects and reviews the annual budget in coordination with Church Council, provides quarterly and annual fiscal reports and manages banking transactions.
Education Committee: The Education Committee oversees and facilitates all ministries of GMC that are involved in the Christian education of children and adults at Germantown Mennonite Church by planning Sunday school programs, equipping teachers and leaders with faith formation resources, and providing leadership in education programming.
Hospitality Committee: The Hospitality Committee extends hospitality to visitors, attendees, and members ofGermantown Mennonite Church by creating a welcoming and accepting environment by greeting people arriving at worship, facilitating fellowship hour, celebrating special occasions and supporting members and attendees during times of need.
Trustees Committee: The Trustees Committee has the responsibility of being stewards and managers of the building, respecting the community’s ownership of our building, and protecting property rights as they pass from member to member, from pastor to pastor and from one generation to the next generation of believers.
Peace & Social Concerns Committee: The Peace and Social Concerns Committee of Germantown Mennonite Church provides a focus for congregational activity, giving, and prayer around peacemaking and social justice and encourages the congregation to deeply live out their Christian and Anabaptist values by offering information and opportunities to serve.
Stewardship Committee: The Stewardship Committee oversees and administers the financial and tangible resources of the church community and helps the congregation understand how to be wise stewards of these resources to help fulfill the larger mission of Germantown Mennonite Church.
Worship Committee: The Worship Committee guides the worship life of Germantown Mennonite Church in order to advance the praise of God, enhance the spiritual life of those who take part in worship, and make worship relevant to the lived experience and context of GMC participants through equipping worship and song leaders, and planning the spiritual life of the church throughout the year.
